Overall Rating: 4 / 5

If you like Eastern European cuisine but are sick of only getting borscht and pelmeni, this is a must-check-out spot! Some menu items might not seem familiar, but the staff here would be more than happy to assist you, and every item we ordered was at least decent and authentic. Lovely spot to hold a birthday party or romantic dinner as well.

The Vibe : 5 / 5

As soon as you walk in, you immediately feel like you are at your Slavic grandparents’ house. There are antique decorations, photos, and items everywhere, making you feel like you are visiting someone’s home. This place is more for private dinners, romantic dinners, or close-friends vibes. However, they do celebrate birthdays here, or you could rent the whole venue by contacting them beforehand. For birthdays, they play Slavic celebration music at your table.

What We Ordered

[Khinkali] — $26: 4/5

Georgian lamb dumplings served with tomato sauce, not ketchup, and sour cream.

If you have never tried khinkali before, think of it as a thicker-wrapped soup dumpling with lamb meat. You hold the top like a handle with your hand and bite into the bottom to suck out the juice. It was less juicy, and the wrapping was thicker than my usual liking, but it was still a solid khinkali, better than a frozen one you find at grocery stores.

[Salo Plate] — $22: 2/5

Sliced pork lard, assorted vegetables, and horseradish paste.

The quality of the lard itself was amazing. However, they were not sliced thinly enough, so it was hard to take bites or even cut through with a knife. There were two types of lard: one was smoked with skin on, and the other was normal and skinless. The smoked one was especially hard to cut through. As this is a dish where the texture and flavor are supposed to pair with infused vodka, I expected the texture to shine through.

[Pike Caviar] — $26 : 4.5/5

Pike caviar with horseradish and sour cream underneath.

Amazing caviar quality! Perfectly fresh, no fishiness, just that buttery taste paired with a slightly popping texture. I could devour this whole dish in one sitting. Slight negative points for a tad too much sour cream. I left out a bit of sour cream so I could really taste the caviar without the sour cream overpowering it too much.

[Cured Herring] — $21 : 3.5/5

Cured herring with red onion and boiled potatoes.

Nothing special or new. Just a classic combo of cured fish, onion, and boiled potatoes. The fish quality was meh. I like mine a little firmer, and usually at home, I would pickle the onion slightly before serving. Here, the onion was raw. Nice plating, and the fish was easy to eat as it was deboned! Order it if you are craving some oily fishiness, which I was.

[Soleniya] — $16 5/5

Assortment of pickled vegetables and fruits.

I’m sure they pickle their own soleniya here, as they not only had the usual cucumber and cabbage combo, but also apple and tomato pickles, which are something you can usually only find homemade. It always depends on personal preference when it comes to crunchiness and saltiness, but at least for me, it had the right amount of salt. I liked their spice mixture, and it added freshness to complement the other dishes above. My friend who came with me did mention that she was not a fan of the cabbage, as it was too salty.

Menu & Pricing — 4.5 / 5

Their menu is beyond extensive. It’s harder to count which famous Eastern European dishes are not on their menu. It’s also very reasonably priced. If you were to go grocery shopping to get the ingredients, you would most likely pay around the same price as you would at this restaurant. On the other hand, there is not really a menu item that feels special only to this restaurant. I highly recommend ordering the infused vodka to pair with this high-fat cuisine. I promise you won’t be able to stop eating!

Total Bill Per Person: $70-$80

Final Verdict

This place not only serves all kinds of Eastern European cuisine, but also makes you feel like you traveled to the 1980s in Eastern Europe. It may not be the best place to go for a very specific dish, like going to an actual Georgian restaurant if you want khinkali or khachapuri, for example, but it delivers standard flavor across all the dishes. Come here for a cozy night with your friends or partner, and for a little time traveling.
